"One morning, shortly after our arrival in Yosemite, my parents presented me with my first camera, a Kodak Box Brownie. After a few minutes of simple instructions, my camera and I went off to explore."

~ Ansel Adams, describing his first visit to Yosemite in 1916

I received my first camera as a Christmas present when I was 10 years old. It was a Kodak Instamatic 100 that used 126 cartridge film. I remember the thrill I got holding that first set of black & white prints. The camera is like a time machine, capturing the light at a particular moment in time, and preserving it forever.

I am a freelance photographer and have been shooting professionally since about 1985. Typical work includes photography for portfolios, portraits, weddings, concerts, real estate, theatre, sports, brochures, websites, and special events. I am also a photojournalist, and an active member of the National Press Photographers Association and have worked for many organizations such as The North County Times, The Associated Press, WireImage, The Osprey Observer, Universal Event Photography, and Encore Photo. I received an award for excellence in journalism from the Society of Professional Journalists, San Diego Chapter in 2002.  I shoot with both 35mm film and digital cameras, but prefer to shoot digital both to reduce costs and maintain a higher level of control in the "digital darkroom". My passion for photography keeps me shooting (exploring) all the time.  Needless to say, I always have a camera nearby. Please visit the Photo Gallery for some samples of my work.

As scheduling permits, I am available for all types of photography assignments throughout the United States. For more information, please check out the Services page.
